The DGA orders a high-power laser demonstrator for counter-drone operations

On 22 August 2025, the DGA notified a consortium comprising  MBDA, Safran Electronics and Defense, Thales et CILAS of an order for a laser weapon system demonstrator.
Known as the Next-Generation Laser Defence System (Syderal), it will be used for counter-drone operations and short-range air defence.
